Evan Stankunas, the Environmental Project Manager for the firm has been awarded certification as a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) by the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice.
Achievement of the QEP certification is considered to be an accomplishment of the highest order, signifying strong professional and ethical standards in the arena of environmental management. The award comes after rigorous scrutiny of experience and qualifications, and satisfactory completion of a written examination. The QEP certification is the first and only multi-media, multi-disciplinary, board-certified credential of its kind that requires environmental professionals to consider the overall environmental picture and to have the skills and knowledge to resolve real world problems. Through the QEP certification, environmental professionals demonstrate the breadth and depth of their knowledge and experience. It is distinguished from other certifications by its cross-disciplinary nature. The QEP is international in scope and has received accreditation by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB).
As a certified QEP, Mr. Stankunas broadens the range of services we offer to our client base including the ability to certify compliance develop workplans under NYSDEC Environmental Restoration Programs. Additionally, NYSDEC now strongly recommends that all remedial actions be certified or overseen by a QEP, even residential heating oil spills or remediation activities.

Evan was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Siena College with a dual degree in Environmental Science and Political Science. During his college years he conducted research on amphibian habitat and land use including radio telemetry studies of frog movements at the Saratoga National Historical Park. His focus on the science and policy of environmental management during college led him to a career in the environmental industry. During his 10 years in the environmental industry he focused on water, soil and air sampling, remediation system design and maintenance, environmental permitting and regulatory consulting. Evan has conducted every phase of remediation project from water sampler to remediation system designer. In his most recent environmental position he was Environmental Manager of Stewart International Airport where he oversaw all environmental aspects of the entire 2000 acre airport facility. In January of 2018, Evan joined the team at EcoTec. Evan is primarily responsible for Environmental Operations and Client Management.
When he is not watching airplanes take off or wading around in vernal pools to find frogs in the spring, he and his wife spend as much time as they can outdoors hiking, identifying trees and skiing.
